Re-polling held at several booths in Odisha

Re-polling was today held at several booths where voting during the first phase panchayat polls in Odisha was cancelled.

As per the decision of the State Election Commission (SEC), re-polling was held at 11 booths of Garadpur block in Kendrapara district, 16 booths of Mahanga block in Cuttack district, 5 booths of Dasarathpur block in Jajpur district and booth no 4 of Purunapani in Dhenkanal district.

Untoward incidents such as ballot paper tearing, ballot box torching, looting of ballot box and capturing of polling booths had led to cancellation of voting at these booths in the first phase panchayat polls.
