“We took the patient to the emergency room at about 3-3:30 AM in the morning. But the doctors insisted that they would attend to the patient only after he is moved to the ward. It was about 8-8:30 AM by the time he was allowed into the ward. The patients’ condition had become critical by then. He could have been saved had the doctors attended to him immediately or had he been shifted to the ward immediately,” said one of his friends in Delhi.

The deceased Santanu Kumar Behera was working in a garment godown in Badli area of Delhi.

“I was told by aunty (the deceased’s mother) that Santanu is sick. She asked me to meet him in the hospital and I reached here by 9 AM. It took me some time to arrange some money that was needed for the treatment. But he was no more by the time I arrived,” said his cousin.

Santanu had been initially admitted to Bharat Hospital after testing positive for dengue. Later, he was shifted to Bara Hindu Rao Hospital after his condition deteriorated. He breathed his last under medication at Bara Hindu Rao Hospital yesterday morning.
