The centre will have 20 trainees to start with. The selection will be done as per the latest revised guidelines in athletics and archery disciplines. The sports infrastructure and facilities will be maintained on a regular basis and upgraded from time to time by the KISS authorities. Sports equipment will be supplied as per the scheme guidelines, the release said.

SAI selected KISS for its Extension Centre because of the impressive track record of the Institute in sports. The KISS authorities give equal emphasis to both, education and sports. Its students have achieved much success in national and international level sports, bringing many laurels to the country and Odisha in Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and South Asian Games. They have also made it to the probable players list for Olympic Games, the release claimed.

The release said trainees will be selected in the age group of 8-10 years. The selection of trainees will be done by a duly constituted committee consisting of Director (In-charge), SAI Eastern Centre, Kolkata or his representative, one expert coach of the discipline and one outstanding sports person from the area. The final decision for relaxation in age or any other criteria will be considered only after receiving a complete proposal at SAI Head Office.
