Sarpanch candidate’s brother abducted, killed in Odisha’s Kandhamal

In a gruesome incident, a sarpanch candidate’s brother was abducted and brutally killed in Odisha’s Kandhamal district. His beheaded body was found yesterday four days after his abduction.

The deceased was identified by as Gasa Pattamajhi (48), brother of sarpanch candidate Bhusala Pattamajhi, of Parigarh panchayat under Kotgarh block in Kandhamal district. The beheaded body was found near forest.

Although, the reason behind murder is yet to be ascertained, the victim’s brother alleged that Gasa was killed by the opposition groups ahead of the panchayat polls.

According to reports, Gasa was abducted on Feb 7. His family members tried to search the victim, but failed to get whereabouts. Four days after his abduction, they found two bones kept on a place in the forest following which they lodged a complaint with Kotagarh police station alleging murder of Gasa.

Acting on the complaint, IIC Tushil Majhi, BDO Sudhakar Rait along with Baliguda sub-divisional medical team reached the spot where the buried beheaded body was found.

A case has been filed and police is investigating the matter.
