SOA VC, Capital Hospital Director among beneficiaries take COVID vaccine shot in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) Vice-Chancellor and former All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar Director Dr. Ashok Kumar Mahapatra and Capital Hospital Director Dr. Lakhmidhar Sahoo were among the beneficiaries took shot of vaccine on the first day of nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive.

Dr. Lakhmidhar Sahoo and eminent neurosurgeon Dr Mohapatra were administered the COVID vaccine at the Capital Hospital and SUM Hospital respectively in Bhubaneswar today.

The State’s vaccination drive was rolled out from the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar where a sanitation worker namely Biranchi Nayak received the first dose of Coronavirus vaccine at 11.05 AM. After him, Dr Sahoo got the shot against COVID.

The vaccine is said to be quite effective without side effects.

Dr Sahoo said that he did not develop any side effect after getting the vaccine.

In Cuttack, Barsha Dei, the sanitation worker of the SCB Medical College & Hospital, was first to have been administered the COVID vaccine.

Additional DMET DR. U.K. Satapathy and Dr. Jayant Panda of the SCB Medical College & Hospital were also vaccinated on on the first day of the massive COVID immunisation drive.

The vaccination programme began in Sundargarh district with administration of vaccine to  sanitation worker Dilip Nag and senior doctor Dr. Dilip Mishra received the vaccine. The first dose of vaccine was administered to Biswanath Mallick, an attendant of the DHH, in Puri.
