Stone falls off Sakhigopal temple in Odisha’s Puri

Puri: With incessant rain continues to wreak havoc across Odisha especially in coastal districts since past two days, a huge stone fell off Sakhigopal temple of lord Krishna here this morning.

The stone weighs around 1 quintal.

Although, the reason behind falling of the stone located atop the ancient temple is yet to be ascertained, the continuous rains in Puri district could be assumed to be one of the factors behind the incident.

On the other hand, a 40-ft high wall of Parbati Sagar on the premises of Loknath temple in Puri collapsed due to heavy rains in the past two days. The waterlogging in the shrine caused inconveniences to devotees.

The rain water entered the Parbati temple and Kartik temple inside the campus.

The coastal districts of Odisha are likely to experience heavy rains in next 24 hours due to low pressure that turned into depression over the Bay of Bengal.
