The police have arrested three persons, including the prime accused, for gunning down the liquor trader on December 6.

According to sources, police have seized the murder weapon, live bullets, licensed gun of the deceased and a laptop from their possession.

“We have arrested three accused involved in the murder of liquor trader Binod Bihari Das,” said Twin City Commissioner RP Sharma at a press conference.

It may be recalled that unidentified miscreants had fired three rounds of bullets at Binod Bihari Das alias Kutu at his brother’s liquor outlet in Brahmanijharilo market under Cuttack Sadar police station limits.

Unidentified men had gone to the liquor shop where they consumed alcoholic beverage and moments later an altercation ensued between the trio and Das. They barged into the shop and fired three rounds of bullets at him from a close range. Before fleeing the spot on a two-wheeler, the assailants looted cash from the shop and broke the close circuit camera installed at the shop.

A profusely bleeding Das was rushed to a private hospital in Cuttack in a critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
