Thunderstorm with lightning very likely in 22 Odisha districts on August 31; check details

Bhubaneswar: Due to prevalent monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over 22 districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours. India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre today issued Yellow Warning for next 4 days.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD mentioned, “Southwest monsoon has been subdued in Odisha. Western end of the monsoon trough at mean sea level continues to run along the foothills of the Himalayas and the eastern end now passes through Gorakhpur, Patna, Bankura, Digha and thence east-southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal. A cyclonic circulation lies over Northeast and its adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and extends up to 5.8 Km above mean sea level tilting southwestward with height.”

The highest maximum temperature of 36.2oC was recorded at Chandbali and Baripada and the lowest minimum temperature of 22.0oC was recorded at Phulbani in the plains of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bolangir and Nuapada.
