Two college girls attacked with knife in Odisha’s Nuapada; 1 held

Nuapada: Two college girl students sustained critical injuries after being attacked by a clerk of a local high school with a knife in Odisha’s Nuapada district today. When Chandraka Majhi and Premlata Jagat of Biju Patnaik College, Boden were going to the local market to buy clothes, the clerk of Boirgaon High School, Lalita Naik intercepted them.

Lalita allegedly asked Chandraka to give him Rs 200. Chandraka refused to pay the clerk anything, but later paid him Rs 200 after he kept on pestering. The two girl students walked for few metres but were again intercepted by the clerk.

He reportedly told Chandraka and Premlata the former is in love with him. Following this, Chandraka opposed Lalita and subsequently an argument ensued between them on the road near the local market in Boden.

Lalita then took out a knife and attacked Chandraka and Premlata on the road injuring them critically.
Locals immediately rushed the two college girl students to the Boden hospital. Authorities of the hospital said condition of the two girls are stable.

Based on a written complaint filed by the two girls, police registered a case and arrested the school clerk. A police official said the accused have been forwarded to the court.

The two college girls are residents of Chikalchuan village under Boirgaon panchayat.
