Woman killed, two injured after attack by neighbours in Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: A woman was killed and two others were seriously injured after her neighbours attacked them allegedly over property dispute at Manitri village under Simulia police limits in Balasore district.

The deceased woman has been identified as Rangalata Gochhayat. Two persons who sustained grievous injuries were Rangalata’s husband Madhusudan Gochayat and her niece Pujarani.

According to reports, Rangalata and her family got indulged in a clash with their neighbours namely Jagabandhu Sethi, Susanta Das, Kanhei Gochayat and Sabitri Gochayat last night due to previous enmity.

The long-time dispute over property turned out be uglier when the woman and her family members were attacked by neighbours with bamboo stick and sharp weapons. In the group clash, Rangalata, her husband and niece were injured following which the trio was admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Bhadrak, in a critical condition. After health condition of the woman deteriorated, she was shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, where the doctors declared her dead.

On receiving information, Simulia police reached the spot and initiated probe into the incident. Among accused persons, two have been detained by the police for interrogation in the matter.
