3 critical in post-poll violence in Odisha’s Jajpur; sec 144 clamped

Post-poll violence continues unabated in Odisha after panchayat elections as three persons were critically injured in a group clash at Jana village under Panikoili police limits in Jajpur district following which Section 144 of CrPC was imposed there.

The victims have been admitted to hospital.

According to reports, a BJD-supported candidate had got defeated by a Congress-supported candidate in the panchayat polls as per unofficial figures.

Tension gripped the village today over the matter as supporters of both parties pelted stones at each other injuring three persons grievously.

Section 144 of CrPC was imposed in the village by the district administration after the incident and police forces have been deployed.
