Odisha: Young woman ends life after lover posts obscene video on social media

Angul: In a gruesome outcome of obscene videos of women going viral, a young woman committed suicide after her lover uploaded an objectionable video of her on social media in Angul district.

The woman, a resident of Banatal police station area, died while undergoing treatment at a hospital here last evening after she consumed poison when the video went viral.

Sources said the woman was in love with a youth of Talcher area. Both used to talk over video calls, during which she had showed her private parts to the youth. The accused had captured a clip from the video calls and uploaded the same on social media. Humiliated with this, the helpless woman later consumed poison. Though the victim was admitted to a hospital in critical condition, she died while undergoing treatment at the hospital last evening.

Meanwhile, her family members have lodged a complaint against the youth at Bantala police station. Acting on the complaint, the police have begun an investigation into the incident.

However, no police officials were available to comment on the matter.
