Ban on Paan, tobacco at Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar from New Year

Kotha Bhoga of deity will be prepared with Omfed ghee

Bhubaneswar: The Lingaraj Temple Trust Board is all set to implement stricter norms from New Year banning the use of Paan and tobacco products inside the centuries-old Shiva temple in Bhubaneswar.

As per the decisions made at a meeting of the Trust Board, the devotees found chewing tobacco or betel leaves will be barred from entering the premises of the Lingaraj Temple. The use of polythene and plastics will also be banned at the temple. The restrictions will come into effect from January 1, 2024.

Besides, the Kotha Bhoga of Lord Lingaraj will be prepared in pure ghee manufactured by Omfed.

The servitors in this regard have been communicated through a letter following the order of Khordha Collector K Sudarshan Chakravarthy, who is the President of Shree Lingaraj Temple Trust Board.

Moreover, the temple trust board has decided to issue ID cards to all servitors within 15 days to maintain discipline in conduct of rituals of deity at the temple.
