Bhuan sent to Choudwar jail in Odisha’s Cuttack

Odisha police today produced businessman Pramod Patra alias Bhuan before a local court here after his arrest this morning. Bhuan was arrested on charges of extortion and his alleged links with the gangster siblings Sushant and Sushil Dhalsamanta.

Twin City Commissionerate Police produced Bhuan before the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) at his residence here following which he was sent to Choudwar Circle Jail as police did not seek to take him on remand.

“Bhuan has been arrested on the basis on information gathered from the CD seized from Dhalsamant brothers’ residence during raids. He has been arrested on charges of extortion and complicity in number of murder cases,” Twin City Police Commissioner YB Khurania said.

Bhuan, the President of Shankarpur-Badambadi Puja Committee, was detained at Chauliaganj police station yesterday for questioning for his alleged links with the DS brothers and involvement in murder, attempt to murder, extortion and bomb hurling cases.

Prior to this, a 20-member team led by Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora along with two platoons of police personnel raided Bhuan’s residence at Shankarpur here last evening.

Police seized Rs 76, 20, 000 and other incriminating documents during the search at his residence, sources said.

Notably, he is the former secretary of Cuttack Private Bus Owners’ Association and owns a fleet of buses.
