Class-VIII student delivers baby in Odisha’s Kandhamal, Min orders probe

Phulbani: A class-VIII girl student of a residential school in Daringbadi area of Odisha’s Kandhamal district reportedly gave birth to a baby at the hostel today.

Tension gripped the locality following the incident as irate locals gathered at the concerned school and staged road blockade on NH-59. The blockade was withdrawn after police detained a youth as the accused in the case.

The headmistress of the school was questioned in this connection at the Daringbadi police station, reports said.

On the other hand, SC and ST Development Minister Ramesh Majhi said the Kandhamal Collector has been asked to conduct a probe into the matter and submit a report.
