Heatwave: Bhubaneswar hottest place in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: With heatwave condition prevailing across Odisha, Bhubaneswar became the hottest place in the State.

The State capital recorded the maximum temperature 41.2 degree Celsius by 2.30 pm today, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre.

As per temperature observed by Bhubaneswar MeT by 2.30 pm on Saturday, mercury touched 40 degree Celsius in 3 places in Odisha. Bhubaneswar had the highest temperature of 41.2 degree Celsius followed by Sambalpur with 40.2 degree Celsius and Chandbali with 40 degree Celsius respectively. The lowest day temperature was recorded in Gopalpur with 29.8 degree Celsius.

Earlier in the day, the maximum temperature was 40 degree Celsius in the capital city by 11.30 am today.

Other places including — Jharsuguda registered maximum temperature of 39.5 degree Celsius, Hirakud 38.8 degree Celsius, and Keonjhar 38.6 degree C later in the afternoon.

The day temperature in coastal region of the State such as Balasore, Puri and Paradip was 37.4 degree C, 32.4 degree C and 32.2 degree C respectively.
