Human sacrifice! Man hacks sister to death with sword in Odisha

Crossing all limits of brutality, a person allegedly hacked his sister to death with a sword in Balangir district of Odisha today.

The accused has termed the killing as an act of human sacrifice to appease village deity.

The gruesome incident took place at Dangaghata village under Balangir Sadar police limits in the district.

According to police, Tripura Mallick, the accused, had an exchange of words with her sister Ranga Mallick, an estranged woman living at her father’s house for the last six years.

In a fit of rage, Tripura attacked her with a sword, which he had kept for worshipping purpose, leading to her death on the spot, a police official said.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the accused is either of unsound mind or the incident was an outcome of sudden provocation, the police official added.

Police have arrested the assailant and seized the sword used in the killing.

In a shocking revelation by the villagers, Tripura went berserk after killing her sister and started shouting and dancing on village road with the sword in his hand.
