Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur at a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of north Odisha and heavy rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of south Odisha, the local meteorological centre forecasted.

Strong gusty surface wind with speed reaching 45-55 kmph and gusting up to 65 kmph would prevail along and off Odisha coast.

The showers would continue till September 8, it added.

Fishermen in Odisha have been told not to venture into the sea after the Met department on Monday warned of heavy rainfall and strong gusty surface winds.

The impact of a low pressure over the Bay of Bengal would make the sea very rough.
