Man dies in road mishap near Capital hosp before meeting ailing grandson

Bhubaneswar, May 13:

An elderly man had come to Odisha capital to meet his grandson who was undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital here, but fate had other plans as he was killed in a road mishap near the hospital this morning.

The deceased, identified as Gandharba Swain of Nimapara area, was hit by a car in front of the hospital following which he was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

“My father had come to see my ailing son. I telephoned him as it was getting late and came to know that a vehicle hit him near the hospital,” the deceased’s son Girish said.

Tension gripped the spot following the incident as locals detained the car.

On being informed, police recahed the spot, seized the vehicle and detained the driver of the car for questioning.
