Nayagarh, Jul 8:
Maoists torched two beat houses of the Forest Department in Odisha’s Nayagarh district last night.
According to sources, the red rebels set afire Dhipasahi and Geregedi beat houses after taking the forester and watchman forcibly to another place. This apart, the ultras set ablaze a Bolero car, metal detector, VHF set, TV, batteries, solar light and some important documents. They also ransacked some anti-poaching sheds.
The Maoists left a banner at the spot in which they have demanded revocation of restrictions imposed by the department over the local forest dwellers.
“At around 12.30-1 am, some Maoists stormed into the beat houses and torched a Bolero car and other government properties at our quarters like VHF set, walkie talkie and mobile phones,” said Dhipasahi forester B. Biswal.
