Naba Das gun attack accused Gopal was not regularly coming for treatment, says Psychiatry doctor

Berhampur: Accused Gopal Das in state Health Minister Naba Kishore Das gun attack case, who is a manic, was not regularly coming for treatment for the last one year, said chief doctor of the Psychiatry Department of MKCG Medical College and Hospital (MKCGMCH) Chandrasekhar Tripathy today.

The senior doctor at MKCGMCH here was previously treating ASI Gopal for past several years.

Gopal Das has been suffering from bipolar mental disorders and the disease affects again in case the administered medicines are not taken regularly. A patient usually behaves in an irritant manner.

“The patient (Gopal) initially came to me for medical consultation around 8-10 years ago. I treated him for a few years. However, the policeman did not come thereafter and for the last time, he visited for consultation nearly a year ago. Perhaps, he was not taking medicine as advised,” Tripathy stated.

Meanwhile, the Health Minister succumbed to severe bullet injuries while undergoing treatment.
