Bhubaneswar: A five-member team of National Security Guard (NSG) has arrived in Odisha ahead of its inspection drive at Lingaraj temple and Puri Srimandir scheduled on March 16 and 18, respectively.

The team, including two senior officials, will review security and conduct mock drill along with Odisha police at the two famous shrines. Besides, Odisha police will update officials of the elite counter-terrorism unit about the security system around the temples.

Sources said IG (Operations) Amitabh Thakur has been appointed as the nodal officer to assist the NSG team.

It will be the first reconnaissance of NSG at Puri Srimandir, which is stated to be on the radar of terrorists, after demolition of structures around the shrine under the Government’s heritage and security corridor project.
