Odisha: 14 more inmates of juvenile detention centre test positive for COVID-19

Berhampur: Another 14 inmates of a juvenile correctional home in Berhampur tested positive for wily COVID-19. Though authorities of the juvenile detention centre are yet to make any official statement, the Berhampur Municipal Corporation mentioned in a statement about the detection of the fresh cases in the centre.

With this, the juvenile detention centre located on Jarada Bangala road in Berhampur has 64 COVID-19 positive cases.

On August 1, 45 inmates of the detention centre tested positive for the virus in the first phase. Five more were later found to be infected with the virus.

Earlier, swab samples of 75 inmates were sent for tests after one of them complained of fever and cough.

The inmates of the juvenile detention centre have been undergoing treatment on its premises. A special team of doctors has already been engaged to carry out treatment of the COVID-19 positive cases at the centre.
