Odisha: 2 women dead, 30 injured as pickup van overturns   

Baripada: At least two women were killed and around 30 others sustained injuries after the pickup van they were travelling in turned turtle near Kanheibandh under Khunta police limits in Mayurbhanj district today.

The deceased duo has been identified as Oiti Khandei and Sulochana Biswal.

The incident took place when the passengers were returning to their village at Arabandh after visiting Makar Mela near Similipal.

Sources said around 36 villagers of Arabandh had gone to Athardauli Peetha near Similipal for Makar Mela. While returning at around 10 AM today, the pick-up van lost control and overturned. While two women died on the spot, around 30 others were injured in the mishap.

Getting information, police and fire officials reached the spot, rescued the injured and admitted them to hospital.
