Odisha: BMC to enforce ‘Clean TPW’ in Bhubaneswar; handbills on public space to attract fine

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to keep the State Capital clean and green, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken a tough stance and enforced ‘clean TPW’ here, the BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange said today.

Accordingly, persons misusing public space and putting up handbills on trees, poles, and walls will be imposed heavy penalties in the days ahead. “Team BMC has been working day and night to keep the city clean. Under the Clean TPW campaign, we will impose a fine of Rs 50,000 for spoiling the beauty of the city. Even to the extent, we will lodge FIR against the wrongdoers,” the Commissioner warned.

“We appeal to all residents to use a space legally provided for the purpose,” Kulange clarified.

Worth mentioning, on December 11, the BMC slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 (each) on three agencies for illegally putting up ‘TO-LET’ handbills on public space in Nayapalli under this civic limit.

“Notices were also pasted on defunct vehicles and structures placed on the road. Action will be taken by the civic body if the owner does not take necessary steps to remove them,” an official said.
