Western Odisha reels under scorching heat

Bhubaneswar, April 4: 

 

The maximum temperature of 43° Celsius in the State was recorded at Bhawanipatna today, the highest recorded  this year in Odisha.

Thunder squall accompanied with hail and gusty surface winds speed reaching up to 60 kmph occurred at one or two places over  coastal  Odisha and adjoining districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Rayagada, Gajapati and Kandhamal.

Western Odisha is sizzling under the hot sun rays with temperatures in Titlagarh, Bhawanipatna mercury reaching 43° Celsius, on Sunday.

Not only these two cities, the other cities in the western Odisha are all touching 40° Celsius.

Below Titlagarh and Bhawanipatna is Hirakud with 42.6° Celsius, while Bolangir is 42° Celsius. Sambalpur is at 41.8° Celsius, Jharsuguda 41.6° Celsius, Sundargarh is at 40° Celsius.

While, the non coastal areas are under 40° Celsius, but there is high moisture content in the air. Bhubaneswar today measured  temperature of 38° Celsius.

According to meteorological department there were rain and thundershowers in one or two places in some parts of  Odisha, today.
