Worker drowns in brick kiln pond in Odisha’s Jajpur

Jajpur:  In an unfortunate incident, a 42-year-old worker drowned in a brick kiln pond near Jenapur railway station in Jajpur district this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Subash Parida, elder son of one Ganesh Parida, of Panasa village under Jenapur Gram Panchayat in the district. Subash was working in the brick kiln as a labourer.

The incident took place at around 9 AM today.  After finishing his work, when Subash was washing his hands in the pond, he slipped into the deep water and drowned. Other workers present nearby rescued him and rushed him to a hospital in Jenapur. Due to absence of doctor, he was again taken to Dharmasala Community Health Centre (CHC). However, doctors declared him dead there.

Following a complaint lodged by deceased Subash’s brother Bikram, Jenapur police lodged a natural death case and sent the body for post-mortem. The cops also initiated an inquiry into the incident.
