After investigation, the department found two officials identified as Saila Patra a nurse and Prasanna Sahu a laboratory technician guilty of negligence.

“The duo was charged with dereliction of duty as they assisted in blood transfusion to a nine-year-old patient from Tikabali,” Kandhamal Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Dr Swapeneswar Gadanayak said.

It may be recalled that the nine-year-old boy Prabhat Nayak was admitted to the district headquarters hospital here where he was infused B+ blood instead of O+ due to the alleged carelessness of the hospital staff.

The condition of the boy hailing from Tikabali area in the district turned critical on January 28 this year following which he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital.
