11 killed, 6 injured in lightning strikes across Odisha

Bhubaneswar: At least 11 persons lost the lives and six were injured in lightning strikes across Odisha today.

According to reports, in Bhadrak district while one person was killed in a lightning strike at Jalmandua in Bhandaripokhari block, another was killed in Radhanathpur in Basudevpur block and three others were injured. The injured have been hospitalized.

In Balasore district, lightning claimed the life of one woman in Sirapur under Soro block. Another person was killed due to a lightning strike in Bhimjore village under Kirmira block in Jharsuguda district.

Similarly, one person has died due to a lightning strike in Machimura village under Sohela police limits, while another has died in Mahakalapada area in Kendrapara district.

Besides, lightning has claimed one life in Bisra area of Rourkela while two others have been injured.

Further, two each in Sundargarh and Mayurbhanj districts were killed in lightning strikes.

Moreover, 11 cattle were killed in lightning strike in Kundapatna village in Jajpur district.
