Under-construction building collapses at Puri railway station; 4 workers injured

Puri: An under-construction building at Puri railway station collapsed today, leaving at least four workers injured.

The accident took place when six workers were engaged in the construction of its roof.

The victims were rescued and rushed to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. They are currently out of danger.

A rescue operation was launched by Fire Services personnel after the mishap as it was suspected that several workers might have been trapped under the debris. Machines were used to remove the debris.

The building was a part of the project to make Puri railway station a world class one.

The exact reason behind the collapse was yet to be ascertained. Railway officials will conduct a probe to ascertain the cause of the collapse, a GRP official said.
