50 houses gutted in fire in Odisha village

Bhanjanagar: Around 50 houses in Dantalingi village in Asurabandh panchayat under Bhanjanagar tehsil in Odisha’s Ganjam district were gutted in a major fire in the afternoon today.

According to reports, as many as 25 families have been rendered homeless due to the fire. The fire which broke out in one house spread to other houses in no time.

Villagers after failing to douse the blaze themselves informed the fire brigade. By the time fire engines reached the spot from Sorada and Dharakote everything-household goods to paddy and other valuables worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ash.

The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.

At the time of filing of this report no one from the district administration had reached the spot.
