According to reports, the violent mob action was to avenge the death of a fellow villager at the hands of Maoists.

Maoists had conducted a ‘praja court’ in Korukonda village under Annavaram police station on the Andhra side at round 6 pm on Sunday where they branded a civilian Gemini Sanjeeva Rao and shot  him dead.

Angry over the brutal killing of an innocent person of their village, the mob launched a concerted attack on the left wing ultras and lynched three of them.

The deceased have been identified as Ganapathy, Ganeswar Rao and a woman cadre Sharada. All of them belonged to the Korukonda area committee of the outlawed CPI (Maoist)

One of them was an area committee member, reports said.

There are also reports that 8 to 10 Maoists have been injured in the mob attack.

More details are awaited.
