Cold wave: Mercury dips to 10 degree C in Odisha capital for 2nd consecutive day

Bhubaneswar: Cold wave continued to grip entire Odisha with night temperature in Bhubaneswar hovered at 10 degree Celsius for second consecutive day in last 3 days.

According to Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, Minimum temperature of 10 degree Celsius is the third lowest temperature in December in last 11 years from 2011 to 2021. Earlier, the city had witnessed all-time record low of 8.2 degree Celsius on December 30, 2018 and 9.8 degree C on December 31, 2019. 

On Wednesday night, mercury dipped below 10 degree Celsius in as many as 12 places in Odisha. Phulbani recorded 5 degree Celsius, becoming the coldest place in Odisha, followed by Daringbadi with 6.5 degree Celsius and Jharsuguda with 7.1 degree Celsius in the last 24 hours.

Others places where the night temperature stood below 10 degree Celsius were Titilagarh (7.3 degree C), Sundargarh (7.5 degree C), Keonjhar (7.6 degree C), Bhawanipatna (8 degree C), Rayagada (8 degree C), Balangir (9 degree C), Sambalpur (9.5 degree C), Koraput (9.5 degree C) and Boudh (9.6 degree C).

Similarly, Angul registered the minimum temperature of 10 degree Celsius. The night temperature dipped to 10.1 degree C in Hirakud, 10.4 degree C in Baripada, 10.8 degree C in Cuttack and Sonepur, 11 degree C in Talcher, 11.1 degree C in Chandbali, 11.5 degree C in Malkangiri and 11.6 degree C in Balasore in last 24 hours.
