Cyclist dies after being hit by tipper truck in Odisha’s Ganjam

Bhanjanagar: A cyclist died after reportedly being hit by a tipper truck in Bhanjanagar area on a major road connecting Dasapalla.

The deceased person has been identified as Pandav Gantayat (50), a resident of Benakunda village under Bhanjanagar police limits in Ganjam district.

According to reports, the accident took place today when Pandav was hit by the tipper truck while he was moving on his bicycle from the village to the main road.

He sustained critical injuries on his head and many parts of his body in the mishap.

Immediately, the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. As his condition deteriorated, the doctors suggested his family to shift him to the MKCG Medical College & Hospital. While his family members were getting prepared to take him to the state-run hospital, he succumbed to injuries.

A case has been lodged at the police station following the mishap. The tipper truck has been seized and driver was detained in this connection, informed Bhanjanagar Police Station IIC Sudipta Kumar Sahoo.
