Newlywed Odisha woman on visit to Puri does vanishing act

Bhubaneswar: A newlywed woman reportedly went missing from her parents’ house in Odisha’s Puri city a few days ago.

The in-laws of the woman lodged a complaint in this regard with Puri Town police, sources said.

As per the complaint, a man from Banamalipur in Balipatna area of Khurda district had tied the knot with a woman of Matimandap Sahi in Puri city on June 9.

The groom’s side had not sought any dowry from the bride side. The groom’s side had gifted all gold ornaments to the bride during the wedding ceremony.

The newlywed woman reportedly asked her husband to keep distance from her for some days, said the complaint.

In the meantime, the woman and her husband visited her parents’ house in Puri on June 25 to witness the annual Ratha Jatra of Lord Jagannath.

The woman reportedly went missing from her parents’ house on the same day. Her phone was also found to be switched off, said the complaint.

The woman’s in-laws, later, found that all the gold ornaments, gifted to her during the wedding, were also missing from the cupboard, added the complaint.
