Odisha police informs Thai Embassy about rescue of sex workers

Bhubaneswar: Twin City Commissionerate police have written to the Thailand embassy about the rescue and detention of three Thai women for their alleged involvement in a sex racket which was running in the guise of a spa in Kharvela Nagar of Odisha capital and was busted on Friday.

“We have informed Thailand Embassy about them and are waiting for its response. We are trying to trace out the mastermind behind the racket. An investigation is underway to find out who were the persons who had facilitated their entry into this field despite them possessing tourist visa,” informed Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi speaking to reporters today.

It may be mentioned that police had busted a sex racket running from a spa in Kharvel Nagar area of Bhubaneswar on Friday.

While five women including three Thai nationals were rescued, two men were arrested during the raid.

The women were allegedly engaged in flesh trade on the pretext of providing massage service.

Acting on a tip-off about the sex racket, a team of police posing as customers reached the house and managed to bust it.

A register bearing the names of other persons who had come to the spa was also seized by the police apart from several mobile phones, a laptop and passports of the Thai women.
