Odisha Vigilance arrests IDCO CGM for amassing 153% disproportionate assets

Bhubaneswar: Senior OAS officer and Chief General Manager (P&A) of IDCO Saroj Kanta Mohanty was arrested today by Odisha Vigilance for accumulating assets disproportionate by 153 per cent to his legal sources of income, following a raid that was underway since yesterday.

As Mohanty could not account for the assets satisfactorily he was arrested and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance in Bhubaneswar.

In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No-38, dated 27.12.2023 was registered against Mohanty and his spouse U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 of the PC Amendment Act, 2018.

During house searches, the following movable and immovable assets worth Crores were unearthed in the name of the IDCO CGM and his family members; a triple-storey building at Mahanadi Vihar, Nayabazar in Cuttack with an area of approximately 6,200 sqft, a double-storey building at Brahmabarada, Dharmasala in Jajpur with area approximately 3,300 sqft, a 3BHK Flat No-103, Amrita Alayam on Plot No-GA/437 in Sailashree Vihar of Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar, another 3BHK Flat No-201 in Tower No-1 at Metro Green Woods, Patapur, Baranga in Cuttack, 10 plots of which seven are in prime areas of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, gold jewellery weighing 703.38 gms and silver 869 gms, bank, insurance and postal deposits of over Rs 70.55 lakh, cash, a four-wheeler and 2 two-wheelers and household articles worth over Rs 20.88 lakh.

After thorough search, inventory, and further inquiry, the income, expenditure, and assets of Mohanty were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets (DA) which were 153% above his known sources of income, a press release of Vigilance mentioned.
