Uri martyr consigned to flames in Odisha’s Nuapada

The mortal remains of Uri martyr Peetabas Majhi was consigned to flames at Danojhala village in Odisha’s Nuapada district with full state honour.

According to reports, Peetabas’ body was flown to Raipur in a special flight this morning from where it was carried by road to his native Danojhala.

The body was consigned to flames with full state honour.

A pall of gloom descended on the village after Majhi’s body arrived at his village. People from several walks of life paid respects to the departed soul.

It may be mentioned here that Peetabas Majhi succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the Army Hospital in Srinagar. He had sustained grievous injuries during a combing operation post the militant attack on Indian Army brigade headquarters at Uri in northern part of Kashmir.

He worked as a gunner in the 34 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion.

He was admitted to 92 Base Hospital of the Army where he was undergoing treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries.

Notably, 18 soldiers had died in the brazen attack on last Sunday and four militants were shot dead in the operation.
