Odisha CM wishes President-elect Draupadi Murmu ahead of swearing-in ceremony

Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik met and conveyed his good wishes to the newly elected President Smt Draupadi Murmu in New Delhi today evening ahead of her swearing-in ceremony scheduled to be held tomorrow (July 25).

An official source said that the CM Patnaik met the President-elect Murmu along with BJD MPs. Patnaik congratulated her on thumping victory in the Presidential Election.

Briefing mediapersons after his meet, Patnaik said, “I conveyed my good wishes to the President-elect and ‘daughter of Odisha’ Smt Draupadi Murmu. I feel immensely happy that Murmu has been elected as 15th President of the country. I will remain present during her swearing-in ceremony.”

Notably, Murmu will take oath of ‘office and secrecy’ in Central Hall of the Parliament.

Draupadi Murmu accumulated 53.13 per cent of total vote value after three rounds of counting. She got a total of 64% votes and 53 votes were invalid. Murmu got total 2,824 votes of the value of 6,76,803 and Yashwant Sinha got 1,877 votes of the value of 3,80,177.

Murmu became the first tribal woman from Odisha to occupy the top constitutional post.
