5 women leaders shortlisted for ‘Maa Ghara Woman Peacemaker’ Award

A distinguished 15-member jury comprising administrators, journalists and activists on Monday shortlisted five women leaders for the first Woman Peace-maker Award, instituted by the Odisha-based Maa Ghara Foundation Trust (MGFT) two weeks ago.maa ghara

The Maa Ghara Woman Peace Makers Award aims to encourage women’s participation in peace making and conflict resolution in difficult and volatile situations within state and outside.

The five women leaders selected by the jury are Shanti Das of the Seva Samaj of Gunupur (Odisha), Ila Ramesh Bhatt (Gujarat), Irom Sharmila Chanu (Manipur), Padma Shri Tulasi Munda (Keonjhar, Odisha) and Linkan Subudhi ( Bhubaneswar, Odisha).

Rutuparna Mohanty, managing trustee, Maa Ghara Foundation Trust said the names of these five women leaders will be repeatedly aired on 92.7 Big FM to seek public votes and the finalist will be chosen on the highest vote catcher.

The Woman Peace-maker Award includes a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a trophy and a citation and will be conferred on the winner on International Mother’s Day on May 11, Ms Mohanty informed.
