Bhubaneswar: The baby swapping allegation, surfaced at Capital Hospital in Odisha, was solved today as per the DNA test report.

According to sources, the DNA sample of the newborn girl matched with that of the wife of Pranakrushna Biswal, who had alleged baby swapping in Capital Hospital here.

“Now, it is clear that Biswal’s wife have given birth to the baby girl,” said a source in the hospital.

The hospital authorities had collected blood samples of Biswal’s wife and the newborn girl for DNA test on October 2. The DNA testing was conducted at State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFCL), sources said.

Notably, Biswal had lodged a complaint with the hospital authorities and the police on allegations that his wife had given birth to a baby boy at Capital Hospital on September 25 but the baby was swapped with a girl child.

In his complaint, Biswal claimed that he was informed about the birth of a baby boy by a nurse of the hospital.

Accepting the complaint, the hospital authorities conducted a probe and found that the nurse had given the wrong information to regarding the gender of the baby due to the slip of the tongue.

However, Biswal refused to accept the baby girl. The hospital authorities opted for DNA test to solve the case after receiving an order in this regard from a local court.
