Body of brick kiln labourer found inside temple premises in Odisha

The family members of a migrant labourer of Odisha’s Nuapada district, whose body was found inside a temple at Berana village under Bhandaripohari police station limits in Bhadrak district on Friday morning, staged a road blockade this morning demanding compensation and arrest of the culprits.

bloody_knife_stabbing murder hacking crimeAccording to reports, police recovered the body of Dulal Singh Majhi, a migrant labourer of Silada village in Nuapada district was working at a brick kiln at Berana village.

However, his body was found inside Subarnamukhi temple premises in the village in the morning on Friday.

Police also seized a scythe found near the body which bore injury marks in the neck.

Police later seized the body and sent it to the family members after post mortem.

As soon as the body reached his village this morning, the family members  did not receive the body while the villagers and staged a road blockade by keeping the body on the road.

Alleging that Dulal was killed following an altercation with the broker, the villagers demanded immediate arrest of the killers. They also alleged that the assailants sacrificed Dulal as his body was found inside the temple premises.

Talking to the media, Janakbai Majhi, wife of the deceased, alleged that her husband was killed by the broker and the brick kiln owner following a dispute over wage payment.

“The wife of the deceased has a child while she expects another child. The district administration should take steps to ensure the future of her family with adequate compensation and give justice to her by bringing the culprits to book,” said Rudra Patnaik, a social activist of Nuapada.

“We have informed the matter to the higher authorities. The police would probe into the incident and take action against those involved in the crime”, said Satya Ranjan Pradhan, IIC of Nuapada.
