Centre sanctions over Rs 587 crore for Jharsuguda bypass road in Odisha

Jharsuguda: The Central government today sanctioned over Rs 587 crore for proposed bypass road of Jharsuguda town in this district, informed Road Transport & Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Taking to his personal Twitter handle, the Union Minister wrote, “The project for the construction of 31.24 km Jharsuguda Bypass on NH-49 in Odisha has been sanctioned at the total cost of Rs. 587.10 Crore. It will also have an Elephant Underpass Structure for the safe movement of wildlife in the surrounding areas.”

According to an official, the bypass road will be laid on a patch stretching from Budhipadar locality up to Patrapali of the town. Requisite survey and other allied works have already been completed and the road laying work is to start soon, the source added.

It is pertinent to mention, Jharsuguda MLA and state Health Minister Naba Kishore Das earlier visited the construction site on August 21 and directed the officials concerned to start the work.
