Odisha Vigilance unearths huge cash deposits of Boudh RTO in banks

Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance sleuths in Odisha unearthed bank deposits and other investments to the tune of Rs 3.75 crore from the possession of Boudh Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Basanta Kumar Mohapatra and his family members during house searches today.

The Vigilance sleuths have unearthed bank and insurance deposits and investment in Capital Gain Bonds worth over Rs 3.75 crore in the name of Mohapatra and his family members during the house searches, said the Vigilance Directorate in a statement today.

Mohapatra and his family members have bank deposits worth around Rs 2.11 crore in Axis Bank, Rs 44.35 lakh at ICICI Bank and Rs 39.55 lakh at SBI in the capital city here, said the Vigilance department.

The Vigilance officials have found insurance deposits worth Rs 31.90 lakh in the name of Boudh RTO and his kin, it added.

Mohapatra and his family members have also invested Rs 48 lakh in NHAI Capital Gain Bonds, said the Vigilance department.

Earlier in the day, the Vigilance officials unearthed a flat at Utkal Signature in Pahala area, shopping outlets at Utkal Kanika Galleria Mall at Gautam Nagar and Rs 1,16,700 in cash among other things from the possession of Mohapatra and his kin during house searches on allegations of amassing disproportionate assets.
