Partial closure of Bhubaneswar Airport postponed

Bhubaneswar: The partial closure of Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar for recarpeting work scheduled to begin today has been deferred for a month.

The runway recarpeting work will be carried out from December 1, informed airport authorities today.

The airport will be partially shut from 10.30 pm to 5.30 am daily starting from December 1, 2019.

With the move, there will be no change in flight schedules till November 30 at the BPIA.

Worth mentioning, the flights were to be rescheduled from November for the recarpeting work of runway, which was scheduled to begin from November 1 in phases.

Earlier, the authorities had made it clear that the runway will be shut in two phases for recarpeting work at BPIA. Also, the parallel taxi track joining work was in the plan during the runway shutdown period.

The last recarpeting work of the airport was carried out in 2007.
