SHG members in Odisha to get financial aid for uniforms

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will provide Rs 1,000 as assistance for uniforms to the members of women self-help groups (SHGs) in the state.

The state Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved a proposal in this regard.

As per the Cabinet decision, the state government will also provide Rs 2,000 as assistance for uniforms to Executive Committee (EC) members of Gram Panchayat Level Federations (GPLFs), Block Level Federations (BLFs) and District Level Federations (DLFs), and Management Committee (MC) members of Area Level Federations (ALFs) under the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

As many as 70 lakh SHG members will get Rs 1,000 each as assistance for uniforms. Similarly, around 1.5 lakh EC and MC members will be provided Rs 2,000 each for the same, said an official.

The assistance amount will be deposited in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. Members of the women SHGs are free to choose their own uniforms. The state government has allocated Rs 730 crore for the purpose.
