7 places in Odisha recorded day temperatures at 41 Degrees Celsius or above

Bhubaneswar: With mercury on the rise at many places in Odisha, at least seven places of the State witnessed day temperatures at 41 Degrees Celsius or above, today. Moreover, Angul and Jharsuguda towns recorded Maximum temperatures above 40oC.

Malkangiri recorded the highest maximum (day) temperature at 41.7 Degrees Celsius, followed by Titilagarh (41.5), Boudh (41.4), Bhawanipatna (41.2), and Talcher, Bolangir and Nayagarh each (41.0).

Besides, eleven more places registered day temperatures above 39oC.

Due to prevailing Northwesterly/Westerly dry air and high solar insolation, the maximum (day) temperature is likely to be more than 40°C at many places over the districts of Odisha and likely to be above normal by 3 to 5°C over the districts of Odisha during April 3 to April 6, 2024.

People are advised to take precautionary measures while going outside during day time between 1100 IST-1500 IST, an evening bulletin issued by IMD regional centre in Bhubaneswar said.

Temperature Forecast: No large change in the Maximum temperature during the next 24 hours. It is very likely to rise by 2oC thereafter at many places over the districts of Odisha. Also, maximum temperature is likely to be between 39 to 41°C at a few places over the districts of interior Odisha and between 36 to 38°C over the coastal districts of Odisha during the next 4 to 5 days.
