Bhubaneswar: Double dose COVID vaccine mandatory for govt employees

Bhubaneswar: In a significant decision, the Odisha Government today made it mandatory for government employees to receive two doses of COVID-19 vaccine for attending office in the capital city w.e.f. July 1.

“It has been decided that all employees of Departments/ subordinate offices/ PSUs in Bhubaneswar must get double doses of the vaccine and attend office regularly from 1st July, 2021,” an official notification of the state government said.

“In case any employee has been unable to get vaccinated for medical or some other compelling reason, s/he must apply for an exemption to the Head of the Department/ Organisation. On receipt of such application(s), the matter can be considered on a case-to-case basis. Employees who are neither vaccinated nor exempted would not be permitted to attend office w.e.f 1st July, 2021 and their absence will be treated as wilful,” the notification said.

A special drive for vaccination of Government employees of all the Departments/ subordinate Offices/ PSUs in Bhubaneswar was undertaken w.e.f 10th to 20th June.

In the process, the first dose of vaccine was administered to about 6,000 employees. Second phase of the vaccination drive is in progress with effect from 17th June for complete vaccination of the employees.
