Bhubaneswar man trying to jump into Mahanadi river for suicide rescued

Cuttack: A resident of Bhubaneswar trying to jump into Mahanadi river in a bid to end his life was rescued, today.

According to reports, Sheikh Jahangir of Patrapada in Odisha capital went to Jatamundia bridge over the river in Banki area after a family dispute, late last night.

He parked the two-wheeler on the bridge and descended onto the bottom portion of a pillar with an intention of jumping into the water body in order to die by suicide.

However, he couldn’t do so and got stuck on the base of the pillar. Locals later spotted him and informed the police.

Later, Fire Services personnel reached the spot and rescued him after an hour-long operation.
