BMC urges people to lodge plaints against eateries serving poor quality food

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange today urged the residents to lodge complaints against eateries serving poor quality and stale food in the capital city.

The BMC Commissioner assured people that the food safety squads would raid the concerned eatery immediately.

The BMC has constituted five squads to inspect food quality at various hotels and eateries across the city. The squads have been asked to conduct surprise raids on hotels ahead of the festival season.

“Violation of food safety rules will invite penalties and closure of shops,” said an official of BMC.

Notably, the BMC officials today sealed four eateries in Patia area of the city for violation of food safety rules.

“We have imposed penalties on the four food stalls and sent samples for laboratory tests,” added the official.
